Takashi Murakami x RTFKT Showcases CloneX Avatar Canvases

On May 11, the global network of Gagosian art galleries launched an unprecedented Takashi Murakami exhibition titled An Arrow Through History, merging the web3 and physical realms under one roof. The exhibits, which comprise RTFKT’s CloneX and Murakami.Flowers NFT, sculptures and hand-drawn canvases, will run through September 25 at two venues in New York. There will also be another Murakami exhibit opening soon on the Los Angeles grounds.

“Japanese culture originally came from the Eurasian continent, and my concept has been to go further from there into the metaverse, shooting through art history with a single arrow.” the man of the hour, Takashi Murakami, commented on the exhibit.

Therefore, at 976 Madison Avenue, NY, visitors are invited to take a deep dive into the world of RTFKT’s CloneX NFT collection in the form of drawings and sculptures.

As Murakami explains: “When I work in creative production, I don’t make a distinction between digital and analog. I always work in the context of contemporary art, and that context has to do with whether I can be involved in events that can trigger a cognitive revolution.

Not far from there, at 980 Madison Avenue, another exhibition dedicated to the iconic Murakami.Flowers collection is taking place. It’s worth noting that some of those colorful flower paintings come from the artist’s initial designs for his NFT. Those 108 pixelated floral motifs take the viewer back in time to the nostalgia of Nintendo games.

And finally, Takashi Murakami’s works of art that have nothing to do with NFTs, brought together in the exhibition called Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow, will be on view from May 21 to September 25. This time, the Los Angeles grounds will host the high-profile event.

Needless to say, the immersive journey into Murakami and the RTFKT Universe at each exhibition is complemented by state-of-the-art virtual reality experiences. Site visitors are offered to use Snapchat glasses to view AR animations of the artworks and the exterior of the buildings.

On top of that, the exclusive VR showcase is available via the official Gagosian website, of course not without RTFKT Studios having been involved. When connoisseurs want to buy a work of art, they can do so in any convenient crypto as Gagosian accepts BTC, ETH, and USD Coin.
